Gray's trey propels Lyndon over Colby-Sawyer

LYNDON CENTER, Vt. — Jason Gray banked home a three-pointer with 5.0 left to play as Lyndon slipped past Colby-Sawyer 68-65 in the North Atlantic Conference opener for both squads.

With the scored tied at 65-65 with less than 30 seconds left to play, Devyn Baranauskas (Waterbury, Conn.) fought through a double-team at the top of the key and hit a wide-open Gray on the right wing. Gray let fly a three-point attempts from 22 feet out that hit the backboard and found its way into the basket.

On the ensuing inbounds play, a desperation three-pointer by the Chargers Corey Willis fell short of it mark allowing the Hornets to secure its first victory of the season.

Gray finished the game with 21 points – a mere two points shy of 1,000 for his Lyndon career – to go along with a game-high 14 rebounds and two blocked shots. Baranauskas chipped in 19 points and four assists for the Hornets and Patrick Dunn (Schenectady, N.Y.) tossed in 10 points of the bench.

Jose Fortunato (BOston, Mass.) played a solid all-around game for Lyndon (1-2, 1-0) collecting eight rebounds, four assists, four steal and two blocks.

Mike Dias led Colby-Sawyer (0-4, 0-1) with 19 points and seven rebounds while Zach Bean and Willis chipped in 11 points and six assists, respectively.
