Hornets, Badgers play to 1-1 tie

LYNDON CENTER, Vt. —Johnson State and Lyndon renewed their rivalry in North Atlantic Conference women's soccer action. After 110 minutes of play, no winner emerged as the Badgers and Hornets played to a 1-1 double-overtime tie.

Amanda Frawley gave Johnson a 1-0 lead at the 4:57 mark of the first half off an assist from Alexa Jakiela. But the Badger lead proved to be short-lived as Emily Strese (Gilmanton, N.H.) knotted the score at 1-1 less than 25 minutes later off an assist from Kajay Rooke (Milford, N.H.).

The game remained tied into intermission and the duration of regulation play with both squads getting a few solid chances to score. Neither the Badgers (6-42, 2-1-2) nor the Hornets (2-9-1, 0-4-1) were able to generate much offense in the overtime sessions and the game ended at 1-1.

Katja Langmaid stopped six shots for Johnson and Lyndon goalkeeper Samantha Smith (North Haverhill, N.H.)had nine saves in the game. The Badgers held a 19-13advantage in shots-on-goal and had four corner kicks to Lyndon's two.
