Chargers thwart Lyndon rally

Box Score

LYNDON CENTER, Vt. — Trailing by 18 points at halftime, Lyndon rallied to within four points midway through the second half, but could not sustain its momentum long enough to avoid a 77-61 loss to Colby-Sawyer at Stannard Gymnasium.

The Chargers led 45-27 at halftime only to see the Hornets come roaring back to within a single point with 13:15 left to play. But James Tobin poured in 12 of his team-high 20 points in the second half to propel Colby-onto its 11th victory overall and eighth in the North Atlantic Conference.

In addition to his scoring exploits, Tobin also collected nine rebounds and two blocked shots and Mike Dias chipped in 15 points and 10 rebounds. Koang Thok had 14 points and eight rebounds for the Chargers (11-6, 8-2) while Will Bardaglio and Stephen Thorpe added 11 points and five assists respectively.

Ben Sackett (Lyndonville, Vt.) tossed in a game-high 22 points and collected three assists along the way. John Williams (Springfield, Mass.) turned in a 16-point, 15-rebounds effort for the Hornets (2-15, 2-9) and Asa Smith (Cheltenham, Md.) had four steals and two blocked shots.
