Lasers Sting Hornets in 5-0 Shutout

NEWTON, Mass. — Five Lasers scored unassisted goals in a 5-0 non-conference shutout of the Lyndon Hornets at Taylor Field. Elizabeth Stickley and Ashley Parrelli split time in the net for the Lasers earning the shared shutout as Lasell improved their overall record to 2-1. 

The Lasers defense held the Hornets without a shot in the contest, and the Lasers' offense outshot the visitors, 51-0.  Lyndon goalkeeper Samantha Smith (North Haverhill, N.H.) was challenged with 25 total shots on goal, making a total of 20 saves in the ninety minutes. Lasell produced a 1-0 lead at the half after Jamie Osterberg drove home a shot from 25 yards out. Osterberg had collected the ball off a rejected previous attempt.  Smith nearly stopped the shot however she lost control of the save and the Lasers took the first period lead, at 36:46.

Forty-five seconds into the second period, Jordynn Frollo received the ball off a throw-in and dribbled through the Hornet's back field to take a shot at point-blank range. Lasell then took a 3-0 advantage when Reegan Brackett took a corner kick which curved into the Hornets net to score, at 48:26. In the 62nd minute, Emily Machado took a close range shot off a rebounded shot to add to the Lasers edge, and Jamie Harris rounded out the scoring for Lasell, at 64:13.
