Bangor, ME - The Vermont State University Lyndon men's basketball team dropped a 111–75 decision at Husson University on Friday evening. The Hornets, now 7–17 overall and 5–12 in North Atlantic Conference play, dug a big whole that they were never able to climb out of. Husson improved to 15–9 overall and 14–3 in NAC competition with the victory.
Lyndon was led by junior guard Wesley McIntyre (Troy, NY), who scored a team-high 25 points, knocking down nine shots from the field and adding six rebounds. Graduate student guard Gregory Gonyea Jr. (Dolgeville, NY) and senior forward Matt Doyle (Whitesboro, NY) also reached double figures with 14 points apiece. Doyle pacing the Hornets on the glass with eight rebounds and Gonyea grabbed seven boards.
For Husson, Eric Ahlers led all scorers with 33 points. Dylan Burpee added 14 points, while Christian Smith finished with 13 and Connor Heald contributed 11. Husson connected on 18 of 42 shots from behind the three-point arc while Lyndon was only five of 27 from distance.
Lyndon closes out the season on Saturday afternoon with a 1:00 pm tip-off at the University of Maine at Presque Isle.
