VTSU Lyndon SAAC hosts biggest attended Trunk or Treat to date

Lyndonville, VT - The Vermont State University Lyndon Student Athlete Advisory Committee sponsored its annual Trunk or Treat event last Friday afternoon.  The event brings together the VTSU Lyndon campus and the local community for some trick or treating and Halloween fun.  This year's event was the seventh annual, and boasted the highest attendance to date.

Trunk or Treat took place in the SHAPE Center parking lot, adjacent to Varsity Field,  Many of Lyndon's athletic teams and several campus clubs and organizations decorated trunks of their cars and distributed candy, snacks, and hot dogs to trick or treaters young and old from both the campus and local communities.  In total over 76 pounds of candy, five boxes of fruit snacks, 160 bags of chips, over 150 hot dogs, and a huge amount of popcorn was given out.

Initially an event for the campus, this was the fifth time that Trunk or Treat was opened up to include the surrounding community.  SAAC President Kaitlyn Frydenlund (Westminster, CO), a women's basketball and soccer player, was happy to se the event back outdoors after last year's event was forced indoors due to weather.  "As a returning SAAC member and now the president of SAAC, I was so excited to have Trunk or Treat outdoors this year!  The turnout was incredible, and seeing all the athletic teams and clubs come together, showcase their creativity, and engage with local families made the event even more special.  Creating opportunities for our student-athletes to connect with the community and bring joy to others is exactly what SAAC strives to accomplish, and we hope to continue with traditions like this one!"

SAAC advisor Quinn Bressler was thrilled with how this year's event turned out.  "I was very happy with how our athletic programs and our clubs on campus interacted with our community members.  I love trunk or treat because we have the opportunity to engage with and give back to our local community.  The teams really tried to create a more interactive experience for trick or treaters, and I think it made for some great moments and big smiles.  I am excited to continue this tradition, and I cannot wait to see how it grows and evolves as our teams and clubs get creative with their themes and costumes!"

SAAC is a a body of student athlete leaders representing each of Lyndon's 11 varsity athletic programs.  Frydenlund serves as President and men's soccer and tennis player Joe Buchanan (McCordsville, IN) serves as Vice President.
