Lyndonville, VT - Vermont State University Lyndon's annual Homecoming and Family Weekend, hosted by the Lyndon Alumni Council, is upcoming September 25-27.  The Hornet athletic department will be front and center with many of the weekend's activities, including Athletic Hall of Fame inductions, a golf tournament, and several alumni games.

The weekend will kick off on Friday with the Skip Pound and Dudley Bell Legacy Golf Classic.  The 18-hole scramble event will tee off with a 12:00 noon shotgun start at the St. Johnsbury Country Club.  Golfers may register individually or as a complete foursome.  Proceeds from the event will benefit Hornet Athletics and the Alumni Council.

The marquee event of Homecoming Weekend will be the Athletic Hall of Fame & Alumni Awards Banquet, to be held on Saturday evening at 6:00 pm in the Moore Community Room on the Lyndon campus.  The Hall of Fame Class of 2026 will consist of four outstanding Hornet alumni:

  • David Chase '85 - four-year varsity baseball player and team most valuable player, decorated high school and college baseball, basketball, and golf coach
  • Wildens Fils '13 - four-year all-conference cross country runner, team captain and anchor of three North Atlantic Conference championship teams
  • Anthony Moccia - varsity soccer, longtime dedicated high school and club soccer coach and volunteer

Family friends, and Hornet supporters can register online to attend the banquet.

Numerous alumni games will also take place over the course of the weekend.  All alumni are invited to attend, either to compete or to cheer on your fellow alums.  Anyone planning to play is asked to contact their sport's head coach to confirm.  The schedule is as follows:

The Hornet men's and women's soccer teams will also be in action over the weekend.  On Saturday the Hornets will take on the University of Maine at Presque Isle in a North Atlantic Conference doubleheader.  The men will kick things off at 1:00 pm, with the women's game to follow at 3:30 pm.  There will be a cookout and ice cream social taking place during the games.  The women's team will also be in action on Sunday, when they face SUNY Canton in a 1:00 pm non-conference contest.

The Lyndon athletic department and the Alumni Council are looking forward to seeing many former Hornets and past and present Hornet families back on campus.
