Hornet women compete but can't generate offense against NAC leaders

Lyndonville, VT — Maine Maritime Academy defeated Vermont State University Lyndon, 2-0, in North Atlantic Conference women's soccer action Saturday afternoon at Varsity Field.

The Mariners scored both of their goals in the first half.  Mayako Brown opened the scoring in the 21st minute, converting a pass from Harlow O'Leary.  O'Leary doubled the advantage in the 30th minute, scoring off an assist from Abby Wong.

Maine Maritime continued to generate pressure throughout the second half, but Lyndon goalkeeper Ella Renaud (Hardwick, VT) made 19 saves after halftime to keep the Hornets in striking distance.  Aracely Delgado-Juarez (LaBelle, FL) made 14 saves during the first half before Renaud took over in goal.  Their 33 combined saves set a new modern era program record.
