Lyndonville, VT - Vermont State University Lyndon and the State University of New York at Delhi entered the final quarter of Friday's North Atlantic Conference women's basketball game deadlocked at 33-33. With Delhi holding a one-point lead midway through the final quarter, Lyndon went on a quick eight point run to take control. The Hornets then held off the Broncos for a 55-47 win. With the victory Lyndon improved to 13-6 on the season and 8-4 in NAC play, while Delhi fell to 3-17 overall and 2-11 in the conference.
Delhi's Aniyah Boston scored to give the Broncos a 43-42 lead with 5:33 to go. At that Point Lyndon's Kiara Mack (Winooski, VT) took over, scoring seven of the next eight points to give the Hornets the lead for good, the last of 14 lead changes in the contest. The Hornets were able to keep the Broncos at bay the rest of the way to secure the victory.
Mack recorded a near triple double with 23 points, a5 rebounds, and seven blocked shots. Ella Huntington was the only other Hornet to tally more than three points, as she finished with 19 and added five assists.
Sereena Palau was the only Delhi player in double figures, scoring 11 points. Boston added nine points and 16 rebounds for the Broncos.
Lyndon will return to action on Saturday afternoon when they host the State University of New York at Cobleskill. Tip-off in Stannard Gymnasium is scheduled for 3:00 pm.
