Lyndonville, VT - The Vermont State University Lyndon women's basketball team battled hard in a competitive North Atlantic Conference contest at Stannard Gymnasium this afternoon, but ultimately fell to the visiting State University of New York at Cobleskill Fighting Tigers, 69–59. With the loss, the Hornets dropped to 13–7 overall and 8–5 in North Atlantic Conference play, while Cobleskill improved to 10–9 overall and 8–6 in the conference.
Lyndon was led by senior forward Kiara Mack (Milton, VT) and sophomore guard Skylar Begay (Tucson, AZ), who each finished with 17 points. Mack also pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds to record a double-double, while Begay added seven boards and a pair of steals. Junior guard Ella Huntington (Taylorsville, UT) added 12 points and six assists.
SUNY Cobleskill was paced by Kyara Triblet, who led all scorers with 20 points. Jaiyla Colon added a near double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds, helping the Fighting Tigers control the paint and close out the road victory.
Lyndon will continue their home stand with a NAC matchup against Maine Maritime Academy on Friday evening. Tip off is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
