Lyndonville, VT - In a spirited North Atlantic Conference matchup at George W. Stannard Gymnasium, the Vermont State University Lyndon women's basketball team put together a complete effort to secure a 78–57 victory over the University of Maine at Presque Isle on Saturday afternoon. With the win Lyndon improved to 9-5 on the season and 4-3 in NAC play. UMPI fell to 1-12 on the season. The Owls are winless in eight NAC outings.
Lyndon was led by Skylar Begay (Tucson, AZ), who tied for team scoring honors with 16 points. She was a very efficient 7/11 from the floor and added five assists and six steals. Forward Kiara Mack (Milton, VT) matched Begay with 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Freshmen Nei'Shae Clegg (Coolidge, AZ) and Hawa Mubarak (Burlington, VT) both reached double figures with 13 and 12 points respectively.
For the Owls, Lindsay Hamilton led all scorers with 22 points and nearly a double-double with nine rebounds, and Nevaeh Bello chipped in with 13 points. Aleyah Matheson also reached double figures with ten points
The Hornets will look to carry their momentum into a Sunday afternoon NAC tip with Husson University. Game time in Stannard Gymnasium is 3:00 pm.
