Presque Isle, ME - The shorthanded Vermont State University Lyndon women's soccer team battled against the UMPI Owls on a windy afternoon. The Hornets ultimately fell to the Owls 10-0.
The Owls (1-8-1, 1-3 NAC) scored early when Kamryn Clavette sprinted past the Hornets defense and put a well placed shot across to the bottom left corner of the net. She would follow up just one minute later, firing a shot off after receiving a pass from her teammate, Shelby Theriault. She would complete the Hat trick late in the first half to lead UMPI in goals. The Owls would take an 8-0 lead into halftime.
The Hornets (0-5, 0-4 NAC) improved in the second half, only allowing the Owls to score 2 goals. Despite having no shots, the Hornets made several pushes into the Presque Isle half and put pressure on their back line. Freshman Aracely Delgado-Juarez made her first start as a goalkeeper for the Hornets, making 13 saves on a day where the ball was hard to track because of the high winds.
The Hornets look to bounce back from their pair of road losses when they return home to play the Vermont State University Randolph Knights on Monday, October 6th. Kick off begins at 4:00 PM.
