Hornet Men’s Soccer Tire Out Against Umaine Presque Isle

Presque Isle, ME - The UMPI Owls took advantage of the wind at their back in the first half before fully breaking away from a tired Hornet unit in the second half to win 5-0.

The Owls (3-5-1, 1-2-1 NAC) opened their scoring when Star Boma weaved a through ball past the hornet defense where Isaac Doore raced to the ball and took a first time shot into the back of the net. Boma added a goal of his own ten minutes later after a header from Max Kennedy floated over the hornet defense in the wind. The Owls would hold the 2 goal lead into the half.

The Hornets (1-8, 0-4 NAC) began to tire out in the second half as Presque Isle continued to push forward. The Hornets battled, but at the end of a two day road trip weekend with only 2 subs at their disposal, they did not have much left in the tank. UMPI did well to navigate their way to 3 more goals in the afternoon, as Ethan Cameron led the way for the Owls with two goals. Goalkeeper Parker Pierce made 7 saves for the Hornets, and Jason Nofsker and Jean Keller Thelisma each created one of the two hornet shots on the day.

Lyndon Men's Soccer looks to get back on track in an upcoming home contest against the Vermont State University Randolph Knights on Tuesday, October 7th. Kick Off at 4:00 PM.
