Bangor, ME - Despite the Hornets early stand turning away the Husson Eagles, the onslaught of shots eventually broke through, and they didn't look back. The Eagles beat Vermont State University Lyndon 18-0 in a conference match up.
It took just over 19 minutes for The Eagles (4-3-1, 1-0-1 NAC) to break through the Hornet defense, when Jaquie Pangburn received a pass from Thea Gerfen and blasted a shot into the bottom left corner of the net. Husson would go on to score 6 more goals in the half to take a 7-0 lead into half.
Unfortunately, The Hornets (0-4, 0-3 NAC) slowed down in the second half, but not for their lack of effort. Kerisa Van Olst (Salisbury Center, NY) made 20 saves in the net for Lyndon, and many Hornet defenders worked to turn away the Husson offense.
In the end, the Eagle onslaught of shots proved too much for the Hornets, who were outshot 65-0. Husson had 14 different players score, with Hailey Tarbox, Marlia Corletto, Kennedy Freston, and Jillian Long all finding the back of the net twice.
The Hornets will have another opportunity in a conference matchup when they travel to Umaine Presque Isle tomorrow, 9/28, kick off at 12:00 pm.
