Plymouth, NH - The Vermont State University–Lyndon women's volleyball team fell in straight sets (25-4, 25-12, 25-10) to Plymouth State University Wednesday evening at Foley Gym, dropping to 0-11 on the season.
The Hornets struggled to find momentum early, managing just four kills in the first set and committing 22 attack errors, resulting in a –0.273 hitting percentage.Plymouth State controlled the pace defensively and offensively, posting a .267 hitting mark in that opening stanza.
In set two, Lyndon was able to claw back marginally, recording two kills and three errors (–0.067), but the Panthers again kept the deficit wide, finishing the set 25-12.
By the third, Lyndon's offense could only generate two more kills and five errors (–0.250), and Plymouth closed out the match 25-10.
On the stat sheet, Lyndon's offensive output was limited to four total kills and 14 errors, yielding a –0.204 hitting percentage. Meanwhile, Plymouth State poured in 35 kills with only 14 errors (.256 hitting), and added 21 aces and four team blocks.
For Lyndon, Kiara Mack (Winooski, VT) led the way with four kills and two blocks, while Kazandra Gonzalez (Norwalk, CA) paced the defense with 10 digs and also added an ace and three assists. On the Plymouth side, Sya McKay spearheaded the attack with 11 kills and a block, and Danielle Emerson orchestrated the offense with 19 assists and five aces.
Lyndon's scheduled matches this weekend at home against Vermont State University Randolph and at Bay Path University have been postponed. The Hornets' next match will now be next Tuesday, when they travel to Albertus Magnus College for a match that was rescheduled from September 16th. Game time is 6:00 pm.
