Hornet women's soccer no match for VTSU Johnson

Lyndonville, VT – Vermont State University Johnson struck early and often on Sunday, defeating Vermont State University Lyndon 14-0 in North Atlantic Conference women's soccer action at Varsity Field.

The Badgers (4-2-1, 1-0 NAC) scored just 1:53 into the match and built an 11-0 advantage by halftime. Jenna Jones scored three times and Moriah Stefanik and Olivia Davis each scored twice in the opening period, while four other Badgers found the back of the net.

Despite the offensive onslaught, the Hornets (0-3, 0-2 NAC) continued to battle.  Sophomore goalkeeper Kerisa Van Olst (Sali=sbury Center, NY) came up with five saves, including a diving stop midway through the first half that momentarily slowed Johnson's momentum. In the second half, Johnso slowed the pace but was able to extend their lead.

Malia Wilson (East Hartford, CT) produced Lyndon's lone shot of the afternoon, a right-footed strike in the 67th minute that carried just wide of the frame.

Johnson outshot Lyndon 28-1 and held an 8-0 advantage in corner kicks.

The Hornets will look to regroup on Thursday when they go on the road to Vermont State University Randolp[h for a 4:00 pm kickoff.
