Northfield, VT - The Vermont State University Lyndon volleyball team opened their 2025 season at the annual Vermont Volleyball Classic on Saturday. Unfortunately for the Hornets, they came up on the short end of a pair of matches, falling to tournament host Norwich University and Vermont State University Castleton.
Match #1 - Norwich 3, VTSU Lyndon 0 (25-7, 25-12, 25-9)
The host Cadets took control from the onset in cruising to the straight set win. Charlotte Johnson and Isabella Vasapolli led a balanced Norwich attack with five kills apiece. Sarah DeBot recorded ten assists and Kelsey Slane notched 11 digs.
Kiara Mack (Milton, VT) had a match high six kills and seven digs to pace Lyndon. Kazandra Gonzalez (Norwalk, CA) had five assists and six digs and Alyssa Gerrish (Alburgh, VT) added seven digs.
Match #2 - VTSU Castleton 3, VTSU Lyndon 0 (25-7, 25-3, 25-10)
The Hornet couldn't stay with the Spartans in their second match of the day. Jocelyn Ray led Castleton with six kills, six aces, and eight digs. Alondra Rojas added 18 assists and six digs.
Mack again led Lyndon's attack, this time recording three kills. Gonzalez had four assists and Gerrish and Sydney Clunis (Windsor, ON) notched eight digs each.
Lyndon will wrap up play in the Classic when they take on Vermont State University Johnson on Sunday morning at 11:00 am.
