VTSU Lyndon Cross Country gets commitment from Verna Stoddard

Lyndonville, VT - Verna Stoddard (Orleans, VT), a graduate of Craftsbury Academy and the Community College of Vermont, has deposited and committed to the Vermont State University Lyndon women's cross country program for the Fall 2025 semester.  She will study Animation & Illustration.

Stoddard was an accomplished distance runner during her high school days at Craftsbury.  In 2023, she finished second in the 3000 meter run at the Vermont Principals Association Division 4 State Championship meet.  In addition to being a runner, she is also an accomplished bowler with the Craftsbury Bowling Club.

VTSU Lyndon head coach Chris Chichester believes that Stoddard will be a key piece of the rebuilding women's program.  "I'm super-excited to have Verna running Cross Country in the fall.  I see a bright future for her at Lyndon and she will be a great asset to the Women's team."

Stoddard's coach at Craftsbury, Michael LeVangie, believes that her work ethic will lead her to success at the college level.  "Verna is they type of person and athlete every coach desires.  Verna joined our team with very little experience but immediately ingratiated herself with the team with her commitment and willingness to always accept new challenges.  Verna brings a joy to our sport and has improved every season through her dedication and commitment to herself and her team - she will be an amazing member of Lyndon XC."

Stoddard is the first announced commit in VTSU Lyndon's Fall 2025 class.  The Hornets expect to announce additional commits in the near future.
