Northborough, MA - Anna Maria College plated runs in every inning and outlasted Vermont State University Lyndon, 19-11, in Thursday afternoon's non-conference baseball game. With the win the Amcats improved to 11-8 on the season, while the Hornets fell to 4-9.
Andrew Denison had a huge day at the plate to lead Anna Maria. He went five for five with two runs batted in and three runs scored. Jonathan Guardascione was three for four with four RBIs and Jeremy Rosenburg hit a two-run home run. Quinn Salvi, the third of six Amcat pitchers, was credited with the win.
Matt Gonyeau (St. Albans, VT) had two doubles and a single and scored three times for Lyndon. Alberto Bustamante (Northridge, CA) had a double and a single and drove in three runs. Bryan Nazario (Little Elm, TX) also had a double and a single while driving in a pair. Dylan Crump (Falls Village, CT), the fifth of eight Lyndon pitchers, was saddled with the loss.
Just as they did last weekend, the Hornets will play four games at Fraser Field in Lynn, MA, this weekend. On Saturday they will face the University of Maine at Farmington in a North Atlantic Conference contest. That game will be followed by a 6:00 pm non-conference game against host Fisher College. The same schedule will repeat on Sunday.
