Lexington, MA - Vermont State University Lyndon and Lesley University both had a lid on the basket for much of Tuesday night's North Atlantic Conference women's basketball game. In the end it was the Hornets who had just enough to survive the Lynx and come away with a 49-45 victory. Lyndon improved to 9-12 on the season and 6-5 in conference with the win, while Lesley fell to 9-15 overall and concluded conference play at 4-9. Both teams have clinched berths in the NAC playoffs and will square off in a quarterfinal contest on February 21st.
Sage Smith (Colebrook, NY) again led Lyndon, finishing with a game high 20 points and five rebounds. Kiara Mack (Winooski, VT) added ten points and eight rebounds. Ella Huntington (Taylorsville, UT) also grabbed eight rebounds and dished out a team best four assists.
Bella Terry posted a double double for Lesley with 14 points and 16 rebounds. Madalynn Biagi also reached double figures with 11 points.
Both teams struggled to find the range all game. The Hornets only shot 18/62 (29.0%) from the floor, including 5/27 (18.5%) from behind the three-point line. Meanwhile the Lynx were 17/54 (31.5%) from the floor and 3/14 (21.4%) from behind the arc. Lyndon forced 22 Lesley turnovers while committing 14 themselves.
