Johnson, VT - Vermont State University Lyndon found itself trailing Keystone College by 20 points with under seven minutes remaining in Saturday's men's college basketball game against Keystone College. The Hornets then staged a furious rally to get within five points with 1:36 to go, but unfortunately were unable to get all the way back, falling to the Giants, 88-80, in the season opener for both teams.
Jden Golding led Keystone with 25 points, while PJ Murphy and Ahmodrion Jones chipped in with 19 and 14 points respectively. Demetrius Thomas posted a near double double with nine points and ten rebounds.
Lyndon's Wesley McIntyre (Troy, NY) led all scorers with a career high 40 points. Max Kocha (Palm Beach Gardens, FL) added 16 points and a team best five assists, while Matt Doyle (Whitesboro, NY) pulled down ten rebounds.
Saturday, contest was the opening game of the annual Vermont State University Tip-Off Classic, hosted this year by VTSU Johnson. The hosts lost Saturday's nightcap to VTSU Randolph, 108-101, in double overtime. Lyndon and Johnson will meet in the tournament's consolation game at 3:00 pm on Sunday. Keystone and Randolph will square off in the championship game at 5:00 pm.
