Randolph, VT - Vermont State University Lyndon opened the 2025-26 women's basketball season in dominant fashion Friday night, rolling past Vermont State University Randolph 88-38 in the opening game of the Vermont State University Tip-Off Classic.

The Hornets seized control immediately, outscoring the Wildcats 27-4 in the first quarter and building a 43-15 halftime lead.  Lyndon then put together its most explosive period after the break, pouring in 30 points in the third quarter to put the game out of reach.

Guard Kadienne Whitcomb (West Burke, VT) knocked down seven 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 23 points to lead Lyndon.  Her 23 points tied her career high, and her seven made threes matched the Hornet single-game program record.  Guard Taliyah Carter (Ozark, AL) added 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting and handed out three assists.  Forward Kiara Mack (Milton, VT) chipped in 10 points and four rebounds.  Guard Nei'Shae Clegg (Coolidge, AZ) finished with nine points and six boards.

Lyndon shot 47.9 percent from the field and made 14 three-pointers, while holding Randolph to just 22.2 percent shooting and only two made threes.

Jasmine Mooney led the Knights with 19 points, going 7-for-10 at the line.

The game was the season opener for both teams.  Lyndon returns to action Saturday at 4 pm, when the Hornets face Bryant & Stratton College–Albany on day two of the Tip-Off Classic at Randolph.
