Lyndonville, VT - The Vermont State University Lyndon women's volleyball team dropped both ends of Wednesday's doubleheader against Fisher College, falling in straight sets in each match at Stannard Gymnasium.
Match #1 - Fisher 3, VTSU Lyndon 0 (25-7, 25-17, 25-5)
In the opener, the Falcons controlled play from start to finish, earning a 25-7, 25-17, 25-5 victory. Â Fisher's front line was dominant, finishing with 42 kills and 12 service aces. Â Jeiris Velez led all hitters with 16 kills, while Natalia Ramirez added 12. Â Setter Alondra Farinacci handed out 38 assists to guide the Falcons' attack, and Sofia Campos anchored the defense with 21 digs.
For the Hornets, Kiara Mack (Winooski, VT) led the way with three kills and a block, while Olivia Cordova (Craig, CO) contributed two kills and two aces. Â Lyndon totaled 34 digs as a team in the match.
Match #2 - Fisher 3, VTSU Lyndon 0 (25-15, 25-4, 25-14)
The second contest followed a similar pattern, with Fisher earning a 25-15, 25-4, 25-14 sweep to complete the day's action. Â Makayla Feitor paced the Falcons with 16 kills, while Ramirez added 10 more. Â Diana Rios was a spark from the service line, recording six aces and 16 digs, and Farinacci again directed the offense with 32 assists.
Lyndon showed improved energy and defensive effort in the third set of the nightcap. Â Nei'Shae Clegg (Coolidge, AZ) led the Hornets with four kills, and Mack chipped in three kills and three blocks. Â Kazandra Gonzalez (norwalk, CA) and Sydney Clunis (Windsor, ON)Â provided stability in the back row, collecting 15 and 13 digs, respectively.
Lyndon fell to 2-17 on the season while Fisher improved to 14-9. Â The Hornets will return to conference play this weekend when they travel to Lesley University for a 6:00 pm Friday evening matchup.
