Hornets rally to defeat Lesley in five set thriller

Lexington, MA - Vermont State University Lyndon rallied from a set down to earn a hard-fought five-set victory over Lesley University on Thursday night, winning 3–2 (25–22, 22–25, 23–25, 25–22, 15–8) in a North Atlantic Conference volleyball matchup on Friday evening.

Freshman outside hitter Nei'Shae Clegg (Coolidge, AZ) paced the Lyndon attack with 11 kills and 19 digs, hitting .194 on 36 swings.  Kiara Mack (Winooski, VT) also played a key role with a team-high 17 kills and 10 digs, while Sydney Clunis (Windsor, ON) chipped in five kills, 23 digs, and five assists.  Hannah Badertscher (Irasburg, VT) added three kills and 18 digs and Kazandra Gonzalez (Norwalk, CA) and Olivia Cordova (Craig, CO) recorded 13 assists apiece.

As a team, Lyndon finished with 36 kills and 99 digs, while limiting Lesley to a .043 hitting percentage.

For the Lynx, Abbie Price and Shae Thomas led the way with 12 kills each.

With the win, Lyndon improves to 3–17 overall and 1–2 in North Atlantic Conference play.  The Hornets have now won the most matches of any Lyndon team since 2014.  Lesley remains winless at 0–22 (0–5 NAC).

The Hornets return to action on Saturday afternoon with another NAC contest at Thomas College.  First serve is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
