Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Hornet women play shorthanded again in NAC loss to Thomas

Lyndonville, VT - Visiting Thomas College struck early and never looked back, handing the Vermont State University Lyndon women's soccer team a 12-0 North Atlantic Conference loss Sunday afternoon at Varsity Field.

The Terriers wasted no time setting the tone, scoring just over a minute into the match when Alexandra Wallingford converted a pass from Ally Southwick.  Thomas continued to press the attack, finding the net twice more within the opening 15 minutes as Briley Rutledge and Breonna Dufrense each tallied.  Taylor Krawiecki then took control late in the half, scoring twice in a five-minute span to send the Terriers into the break with a 5-0 advantage.

Wallingford opened the second-half scoring in the 47th minute, and Thomas continued to build its lead as Dufrense and Krawiecki each added another goal.  Adison Keefe, Rutledge, Bailea Haines, Kathryn McIntyre, and Magnolia Robinson all found the back of the net down the stretch to close out the scoring.

Freshman goalkeeper Aracely Delgado-Juarez (LaBelle, FL) battled throughout for the Hornets, recording 19 saves while facing 55 shots as Thomas kept constant pressure on the Lyndon defense.  The Hornets managed one shot in the match, from senior Malia Wilson (East Hartford, CT),  but continued to compete hard throughout.

With the result, Lyndon fell to 0-7 overall and 0-6 in conference play, while Thomas improved to 4-9-2 and 3-2-1 in NAC action.  The Hornets will look to regroup next Saturday when they travel to the State University of New York at Cobleskill for a 1:00 pm NAC matchup.
