Lyndonville, VT - Maine Maritime Academy poured on the pressure from the opening whistle and rolled to a 9–0 North Atlantic Conference victory over Vermont State University Lyndon on Saturday at Varsity Field, scoring seven times in the first half and tacking on two more after intermission.
John-John Dickenson set the tone with a rapid first-half hat trick, and Aiden Burr, Josh Martin (on a penalty kick), Carson Luedtke and James Baur joined the onslaught before the break. Mason Quiet added a second-half tally and a late own goal completed the scoring.
Freshman goalkeeper Parker Pierce (Woodstock, VT) stood tall through the opening 45 minutes, logging nine saves while facing wave after wave of Maine Maritime attacks. Joe Buchanan (McCordsville, IN) relieved Pierce in the second half and finished with three more stops as Lyndon's goalkeepers combined for 12 saves on the day.
Freshman Ethan Cardenas supplied Lyndon's lone shot on goal in the seventh minute.
Maine Maritime dominated the stat sheet, outshooting Lyndon 40–1, with 21 shots on goal, and owning a 13–1 advantage in corner kicks. The Mariners' balanced attack and relentless play kept the Hornet defense under constant pressure.
The loss dropped Lyndon to 1-10 on the season and 0-5 in the NAC. Maine Maritime improved to 3-2-5 overall and 1-1-3 in conference.
The Hornets will return to the pitch on Sunday afternoon when they host Thomas College in another NAC matchup. Kickoff on Varsity Field is scheduled for 2:30 pm.
