Presque Isle, ME - The Vermont State University Lyndon volleyball team fell in straight sets to the University of Maine at Fort Kent, 25-22, 25-19, 25-22, on Friday evening in the University of Maine at Presque Isle's Wieden Hall. With the loss, Lyndon drops to 2–14 overall, while UMFK improves to 4-10.
Lyndon was led offensively by Kiara Mack (Winooski, VT), who recorded 12 kills and added a block. Her efforts were supported by Kazandra Gonzalez (Norwalk, CA), who dished out five assists and tallied 17 digs.
UMFK's attack, however, proved too much. Lillian Rose paced the Bengals with 10 kills and one block, while Jade McCafferty orchestrated the offense with 19 assists and contributed six points. McCafferty also posted six aces.
In team statistics, UMFK edged Lyndon in kills (24 to 18), aces (18 to 8), and assists (22 to 10). Digs were nearly even, with Lyndon posting 41 to Fort Kent's 39.
The Hornets will look to bounce back on Saturday when they play two against UMaine-Presque Isle. The North Atlantic Conference match between the two schools will begin at 11:00 am, with a non-conference match to follow.
