Lyndonville, VT - Vermont State University used a 10-0 run over the final 3:09 of the opening quarter to take control of their North Atlantic Conference women's basketball game against Lesley University on Friday evening. The Hornets cruised from there, pushing the lead out to as much as 24 points before settling for a 71-51 victory to improve to 7-12 overall and 4-5 in the NAC. Lesley fell to 7-12 on the season and 2-7 in conference.
Kadienne Whitcomb (West Burke, VT) led the way for Lyndon, finishing with a game high 22 points, including six three-point goals. Ella Huntington (Taylorsville, UT) stuffed the stat sheet with 21 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and three steals. sage Smioth (Colebrook, NH) scored 13 points with eight rebounds, five assists, and three steals. Kiara Mack (Winooski, VT) also reached double figures with ten points and added seven rebounds.
Bella Terry paced Lesley with 15 points. Ahidali DeHuelbes notched a double double with 11 points and 11 rebounds, and Leila Chisholm chipped in with ten points.
The Hornets return to action on Tuesday evening when they hot Plymouth State University for a non-conference contest. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 pm.
