Lyndonville, VT - Trailing the University of Maine at Farmington by13 points with under seven minutes to go in Sunday's North Atlantic Conference women's basketball game, Vermont State University Lyndon rallied to within three points with under two to go. The Hornets were unable to complete the comeback, however, as the Beavers escaped with a 68-63 victory to improve to 7-8 on the season and 4-3 in conference play. Lyndon fell to 3-10 overall and 1-4 in the NAC.
Jadyn Pingree led UMF with 18 points. Sarah Poli added ten points and nine rebounds while Jazmine Pingree also chipped in with ten points.
A day after reaching 1,000 career points, Sage Smith (Colebrook, NH) added to her totals with a game high 25 points. Kadienne Whitcomb (West Burke, VT) and Kerigan Disorda (Benson, VT) chipped in eight points apiece while Kiara Mack (Winooski, VT) pulled down nine rebounds.
Lyndon will return to action on Tuesday evening when they travel to Fisher College for a non-conference matchup. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
