Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Hornet women use strong defensive first half to get back in the win column

Brookline, MA - Vermont State University held Fisher College to only three first-half points and rolled to a 52-30 non-conference women's basketball victory on Tuesday evening.  The win snapped a six-game losing skid for Lyndon and raised the Hornets' overall record to 4-10 on the season.  Fisher remained winless at 0-8.

Lyndon jumped out to leads of 14-2 after one quarter and 27-3 at halftime.  The Hornets substituted liberally throughout the game, as all ten Hornets who dressed for the game logged at least 13 minutes on the court.

Sage Smith (Colebrook, NH) led Lyndon with a game high 21 points and seven rebounds.  Kiara Mack (Winooski, VT) added six points, nine rebounds, and a team best four assists.  Riley Webster (Upton, MA) and Christina McKivergan (Essex Junction, VT) also scored six points apiece and Ella Huntington (Taylorsville, UT) chipped in with five points and pulled down a game high 11 rebounds.

Ariana Ramos Cardona was Fisher's only double figure scorer, finishing with 15 points.  Olivia Hamel and J. Braggs grabbed 16 and ten rebounds respectively for the Falcons.

Lyndon gets back into North Atlantic Conference play on Sunday when they travel to the University of Maine at Presque Isle for a 12:00 noon tip-off.
