Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Thomas pulls away from Hornet men

Lyndonville, VT - After falling behind by 15 points six minutes into Saturday's North Atlantic Conference men's basketball game, Vermont State University Lyndon rallied to within two points of Thomas College late in the first half.  The Hornets were unable to sustain the momentum, however, as Thomas pulled away in the second half to secure a 104-82 victory.  The Terriers improved to 5-8 on the season and 2-3 in NAC play, while the Hornets fell to 4-11 overall and 1-3 in conference.

Parker Desjardins had a spectacular game in leading Thomas to the victory.  He scored 41 points, 27 coming in the second half, on 14 of 18 shooting, including eight of 11 from behind the three-point arc.  Camryn Yorke added 16 points, five assists, and nine rebounds for the Terriers, and Luke Briggs chipped in with 11 points.  Jackson Ruelke posted a double double with ten points and 13 rebounds.

Victor Kukta Reyes (Fitchburg, MA) topped four double figure scorers for Lyndon, finishing with 15 points and four assists.  Wesley McIntyre (Troy, NY) and Deshawn Ford (Fort Walton Beach, FL) scored 13 points each and Gregory Gonyea Jr. (Dolgeville, NY) added 11 points.

Bouyed by Desjardins' big game, Thomas made 39 of 67 (58.2%) shots including 12 of 23 (52.2%) from behind the three-point arc.  Lyndon converted 28 of 70 (40.0%), and only six of 23 from distance.  The Terriers owned a 49-27 rebounding advantage, more than enough to compensate for a 22-13 turnover deficit.

Lyndon will play again on Sunday afternoon when they host the University of Maine at Farmington in another NAC crossover contest.  Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 pm in Stannard Gymnasium.
