Waterville, ME -  Vermont State University Lyndon softball players Blake Southworth (Bethel, VT), Victoria Valentine (East Burke, VT), and Lindsey Gannon (Beverly, MA) were recognized by the North Atlantic Conference when the conference announced its annual awards today.  Southworth and Valentine were named to the NAC East Division All-Conference 1st Team, while Gannon was named to the Sportsmanship Team.

Southworth, a junior second baseman and outfielder, was Lyndon's top hitter this season.  She batted .341 with a .360 on base percentage, three doubles, and nine runs batted in.  She also tied for the team lead with six stolen bases.  In the field she recorded 36 putouts and 28 assists.

Valentine, a senior, earned All-Conference honors for the third consecutive year, following a 1st Team selection in 2023 and a 2nd Team selection in 2022.  She split time between pitching and the outfield.  In the circle she led the Hornets with 55 strikeouts, which ranked ninth best in the NAC.  She posted a 4.31 earned run average over 87.2 innings in her 14 starts.  At the plate Valentine hit .293 with a .359 on base percentage, four doubles, and ten runs batted in.  She tied for the team lead with six stolen bases. 

Gannon, a sophomore catcher and outfielder, hit .161 with a .242 on base percentage and four stolen bases.  Selection to the NAC Sportsmanship Team is reserved for student athletes who have distinguished themselves through demonstrated acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior. The honorees are individuals who have positively affected the softball culture and match environment and whose behavior clearly demonstrates sportsmanship and integrity that goes beyond the playing rules and etiquette.

Lyndon finished the season with an 8-19 overall record and a 3-9 mark in NAC play.  Valentine wil be graduating this weekend, but Southworth and Gannon are expected to return in 2025 and be a part of the core of the Hornet team.
