Lyndonville, VT - Fisher College scored multiple runs in each of the first four innings and went on to spoil Vermotn State University Lyndonj's home baseball opener, as the Falcons cruised to a 15-6 non-conference victory. Fisher improved to 16-23 on the season while Lyndon dropped to 2-15.
Fisher used the long ball to do much of their damage. Emanuel Rosado delivered a grand slam home run in the fourth inning and Miguel Torres hit a three-run shot in the sixth inning. Armando Torres and Michael Wright chipped in with three hits apiece as the Falcons touched up Hornet pitching for 17 hits, including seven extra base hits.
Evan Duncan (Little Elm, TX) was a bright spot for Lyndon. Duncan was a double away from hitting for the cycle, He hit a solo home run over the right field wall in the sixth inning and hit an RBI triple into the right field corner in the eighth. Tyler Murro (Littleton, NH) had a double and a pair of singles for the Hornets and Matt Gonyeau (St. Albans, VT) and Ryan Alt (Poultney, VT) had two hits each.
Jonathan Mesa, the second of seven Fisher pitchers, earned the win after two innings of scoreless relief. Alt started for the Hornets and took the loss.
Lyndon is scheduled to host Husson University in a four-game North Atlantic Conference series this weekend. Saturday's doubleheader is set to begin at 1:00 pm, while sunday's twin bill will begin at noon.
