Norwich pulls away from halftime deadlock to down Hornet men

Lyndonville, VT- The Vermont State University Lyndon men's basketball team dropped their non-conference with Norwich University, 103-73. on Wednesday evening. The Hornets dropped to 4-6 in the season, while the Cadets improved to 7-1.

Both teams shot the ball well from the floor in the opening half, resulting in the teams being tied 41-41 going into halftime. The Hornets started the second half well, moving out to a 46-43 lead with 18:22 to go.  Norwich would respond with an 11-0 run to take control, and the Cadets pulled away from there.

Norwich played great defense, and ended up with seventeen steals, forcing 26 Lyndon turnovers resulting in 34 Hornet points.  The Cadets also held Lyndon to 36% from the floor and 33% from the three-point line in the second half.

Norwich was led by Owen Liss, who had 29 points. He was followed by Jalen Olivero who had 20 points with 12 rebounds.  Kohlby Murray also had a great game, finishing with 18 points.

Freshman guard Tyler Cooper (Sterling, NY) had a great game, scoring 17 points while converting five of eight shots from three-point range.  He was followed by senior guard Gregory Gonyea Jr. (Dolgeville, NY) who had 12 points to finish the game.

The Hornets' next game will be on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 pm, when they host Westfield State University.
