Clarkson too much for Hornet women

Lyndonville, VT- The Vermont State University Lyndon women's basketball team fell to Clarkson University by a score of 63-35.  The Golden Knights improved to 2-2 on the season, while the Hornets fell to 2-2.

The Hornets started the game slow and could never recover.  The Golden Knights forced the Hornets to commit 21 turnovers, resulting in 15 Clarkson points.  Clarkson also collected 21 offensive rebounds, leading to 19 second chance points.  Lyndon had a rough offensive night, only shooting 25% from the floor and 20% from beyond the arc.  The Golden Knights held all Hornet players to single digits.  Sophomore guard Riley Webster (Upton, MA) was the leading scorer for Lyndon with eight points.

Golden Knights forward Bella Doyle had a near double-double with 21 points and seven rebounds.  She was followed by Cassidy Dumont with 11 points.  Addie Kae also was close to a double-double, scoring eight points and grabbing nine rebounds.

The Hornets hope to get back in the win column when they head to New York City to face Hunter College in the Hunter Tip-Off Tournament at 7:00 pm on Friday evening.  That game will follow a 5:00 pm tip-off between the University of Massachusetts Boston and Saint Elizbeth University.  Friday's winners will square off for the tournament championship Saturday afternoon at 3:00 pm.  That game will be preceded by a 1:00 pm consolation game.
