Morrisville, NY - The State University of Morrisville sprinted to a 15-2 lead and never looked back, rolling to a 91-50 victory over Vermont State University Lyndon in the opening round of the Mustangs Tip-Off Tournament on Saturday evening. Morrisville evens their record at 1-1 and advances to play Manhattanville University, an 88-60 winner over the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry, in Sunday's 3:00 pm championship game. The Hornets fall to 1-2 on the season and will square off against SUNY ESF in the 1:00 pm consolation game.
Jacob Works paced Morrisville with 18 points. Nokio Kennedy chipped in with 11 points and Avion Grainger added ten points. CJ McCollum and Yvan Fils-Aime pulled down eight rebounds apiece for the Mustangs and McCollum dished out four assists.
Gregory Gonyea Jr. (Dolgeville, NY) and Wesley McIntyre (Troy, NY) scored ten points apiece to lead Lyndon. Matt Doyle (Whitesboro, NY) grabbed eight rebounds and Victor Kukta Reyes (Fitchburg, MA) handed out three assists.
