Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Hornet soccer falls behind early and never recovers at VTSU Johnson

Johnson, VT - Vermont State University Johnson scored less than a minute into Saturday's North Atlantic Conference men's soccer game against Vermont State University Lyndon.  The Hornets never recovered, as the Badgers took a six goal lead into halftime and cruised to an 8-0 victory.  Johnson improved to 2-6-1 on the season and 1-1-1 in the NAC, while Lyndon fell to 0-8-1 overall and 0-3 in conference.

Johnson's Logan Ingalls found the back of the net just 38 seconds into the game to put the Badgers in front.  Johnson would extend their lead in the 20th minute when Oakley Francis scored an unassisted goal.  Ingalls and Francis each scored again shortly after, and Johnson found itself with a 4-0 lead just over 28 minutes into the contest.  Johnson added goals from Lucas Gehring and Landon Amell to expand their advantage to 6-0 at the break.

After intermission it was more of the same, as Lucas Marchessault added another Johnson goal in the 48th minute.  Carter Hubley's goal in the 69th minute accounted for all of the scoring.

Johnson outshot Lyndon 16-3 in the first half and 23-6 for the game.  Badger goalkeeper Spencer Tereglou made a pair of first half saves off of shots from Lyndon's Brooks Enzensperger (Arlington, VT) and Joaquin Torres (Bloomfield, NJ) before giving way to Gehring after intermission.  Gehring was able to turn away the Hornets' Gilbert Flores (Winsted, CT) with the only Lyndon shot on goal of the second half.  Hornet keeper D'Amecio Singleton (Savannah, GA) stopped nine of the 17 shots on goal that he faced.

Lyndon returns home on Tuesday afternoon to take on Vermont State University Randolph in a non-conference matchup.  The game will be a rematch of a 2-2 draw between the teams in Randolph on September 18th.  Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 pm.
