Lyndonville, VT - The Vermont State University Lyndon volleyball team, playing for the first time in 16 days, opened their North Atlantic Conference schedule by hosting the State University of New York at Cobleskill on Friday evening. Unfortunately for the hosts, Cobleskill prevailed in straight sets, 25-3, 25-14, 25-12. Cobleskill improved to 4-13 on the season. The match was also the NAC opener for the Tigers. Lyndon remains winless in 11 matches on the season.
Kathleen Smart paced Cobleskill with six eight kills, ten digs, and 12 service aces. Jojo Haycock also notched ten digs and setter Baylee Kirschberg recorded 13 assists.
Kiara Mack (Winooski, VT) had four kills for Lyndon. Mary Grace Weissauer (Milford, CT) had a team best nine digs and Charlotte Morris (Middletown, DE) had three assists.
The Hornets return to action in Stannard Gymnasium on Saturday at 3:00 pm with another NAC contest, this time against the State University of New York at Delhi. The match will cap off a tripleheader of NAC action. Delhi and Vermont State University Johnson will start things at 11:00 am, with Cobleskill and Johnson squaring off at 1:00 pm.
