Hornet women can't slow down Maine Maritime

Lyndonville, VT - Maine Maritime Academy jumped out to a 12-2 lead over Vermont State University Lyndon and never looked back on Saturday afternoon.  The North Atlantic Conference East Division leading Mariners outscored the Hornets in all four quarters in cruising to a 91-47 NAC victory.  Maine Maritime improved to 10-4 on the season and remained unbeaten at 5-0 in NAC play.  Lyndon fell to 4-12 overall and 0-8 in conference.

The Mariners scored 23 points in each of the first three quarters and 22 in the final stanza.  Maine Maritime built a 23-10 advantage after one quarter and continued to pull away over the remainder of the contest.  Sydney Loring topped five double figure scorers for the Mariners, finishing with 14 points  Sydney Briscoe tallied 13 points and Maria Barela recorded 12 points and seven rebounds.  Evelyn Dagan and Erianna Moore rounded out the double figure scorers with 11 and 10 points respectively.

Sage Smith (Colebrook, NH) was the only Lyndon player to reach double figures.  She led the Hornets with a game high 18 points.  Riann Fortin (Newport, VT) added seven points and Kerigan Disorda (Benson, VT) and Saleena Porter (Saint Johnsbury, VT) chipped in with six points apiece.  Disorda led Lyndon with six assists while Porter grabbed a team best seven rebounds.

The Hornets return to action on Tuesday evening when they host Fisher College in a non-conference contest.  Tip-off in Stannard Gymnasium is set for 7:00 pm.
