Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Hornet women can't get anything going agaist Paul Smith's

Lyndonville, VT - Paul Smith's College scored four times in the first half and cruised to a 5-0 victory over Vermont State University Lyndon in the season opening women's soccer game for both teams.

Hayligh Gates got the Bobcats on the board in the 13th minute off of an assist from Grace Kronick.  An own goal made it 2-0, then Micaela Diller and Alana Cunningham scored less than three minutes apart to send Paul Smith's into halftime with a four-goal advantage.

Paul Smith's was continuing to control play throughout the second half, but the Hornet defense was able to prevent further damage until Cunningham found the net for the second time in the 83rd minute.  The Bobcats outshot the Hornets 39-3 over the contest.

Lyndon goalkeeper Karly Cordwell (Milan, NH) was a bright spot for the home team, as she came up with 14 saves on 19 Bobcat shots on goal.  Peyton Hoffman and Jacqui Torrez combined for the shutout win in goal for Paul Smith's.  Hoffman stopped the only Lyndon shot on goal, a bottom middle shot from Riann Fortin (Newport, VT) in the 21st minute.

The Hornets will return to action on Wednesday afternoon when they host Fisher College in another non-conference matchup.  Kickoff is set for 4:00 pm.
