Waterville, ME - Thomas College sprinted to an 18-0 halftime lead and went on to defeat Northern Vermont University-Lyndon, 23-4, in Saturday's North Atlantic Conference men's lacrosse game. The game was the NAC opener for both teams and Lyndon's season debut. Thomas evened their overall record at 2-2 with the win.
Thomas found scoring from multiple places, as five different Terriers tallied three goals. Jack Morrill, Max Irons, and Connor Hamilton each tacked on two assists to their hat tricks. Charlie Foster-Major and Ryan Foster also notched three goals. Morrill also recorded seven ground balls.
Lyndon played on more even terms in the second half, limiting Thomas to five scores while finding the net four times themselves. Bodhi English (Livermore, CA) picked up a pair of unassisted goals and Elias Libby (Rockport, ME) also scored unassisted. Foster Smallman (Beverly, MA) scored off of an assist from Alex Reed (Woodstock, VT). Libby had a team best seven ground balls.
Patrick Buxton started in goal for Thomas and made one save before giving way to Daniel Guarino in the second half. Guarino stopped four shots. Matthew McGeehan (Milford, CT) went the distance in goal for Lyndon and stopped nine shots.
Thomas outshot Lyndon, 45-16, and won 19 of 28 faceoffs.
The Hornets are scheduled to return to action on Friday afternoon, when they will host SUNY Polytechnic Institute. That game is currently slated to be played on Varsity Field and begin at 4:30 pm.
