Waterville, ME - Thomas College jumped out to a 21-6 first quarter lead over Vermont State University Lyndon on Saturday evening. The Terriers kept the Hornets at bay the rest of the way and cruised to a 49-35 North Atlantic Conference women's basketball victory. Thomas improved to 3-6 on the season and 1-1 in NAC play. Lyndon fell to 4-6 overall and 0-3 in the NAC.
The Terriers' Sky Kubwalo was the only double figure scorer for either team, as she finished with 12 points. Samantha Fortin and Yaribel Pena each added eight points while Fortin and Bri Benecke pulled down ten rebounds apiece.
Sage Smith (Colebrook, NH) and Riann Fortin (Newport, VT) each scored eight points for Lyndon. Smith had a pair of assists and Kerigan Disorda (Benson, VT) pulled down seven rebounds.
The Hornets and Terriers will run it back on Sunday afternoon. Tip-off at Thomas is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
