Waterville, ME - IN a game where the biggest lead by either team was seven points, It was Thomas College that produced the final spurt of the contest and emerged with a 58-57 win over Vermont State University Lyndon on Sunday afternoon. The Terriers improved to 4-6 overall and 2-1 in North Atlantic Conference play, while the Hornets fell to 4-7 on the season and 0-4 in conference.
Elena Alderman and Hannah Coolen scored 15 points apiece to lead Thomas. Yaribel Pena chipped in with 11 points
Riann Fortin (Newport, VT) led all scorers with 25 points.on 8/12 shooting from the floor and 9/11 from the free throw line. Kadienne Whitcomb (West Burke, VT) and Sage Smith (Colebrook, NH) added 12 and 11 points respectively. Saleena Porter (St. Johnsbury, VT) grabbed 12 rebounds and dished out five assists, both game highs.
The Hornets are now off until after the holidays. Lyndon returns to the court o January 7th, when they travel to Division I Dartmouth College for a 2:00 pm tip-off.
