Waterville, ME - Vermont State University Lyndon took a six-point lead into halftime of Saturday's North Atlantic Conference men's basketball game at Thomas College. Unfortunately for the Hornets, the host Terriers came from behind in the second half and came away with an 80-71 victory. Thomas improved to 3-6 on the second and 1-1 in the NAC, while Lyndon remained winless in ten outings, including three NAC contests.
Coopper Wirlala led Thomas with 22 points. Parker Desjardins was the only other Terrier in double figures, as he came off the bench to score 19 points. Metin Yavuz pulled down a game high 11 rebounds.
Lyndon's Gregory Gonyea Jr. (Dolgeville, NY) led all scorers with 27 points, with 19 of those coming in the first half. Mondwell Bukle (Pyeongtaek, South Korea) scored 12 of his 15 points after intermission. Tavarius Vance (Barre, VT) also hit double figures, finishing with 11. Tyrese Harris (Fort Benning, GA) pulled down 11 rebounds for the Hornets, while Peyton Olsen (Middleburgh, NY) dished out seven assists.
The same two teams tip off at Thomas again on Saturday afternoon. Game time is set for noon.
