Hornet men dig big early hole in NAC loss at Thomas

Waterville, ME - Thomas College sprinted to a 21-2 lead at the start of Sunday's North Atlantic Conference men's basketball game with Vermont State University Lyndon.  The Hornets never got any closer than within eight points the rest of the way, as the Terriers rolled to a 90-71 victory.  Thomas improved to 4-6 on the season and 2-1 in NAC play, while Lyndon remains winless in 11 contests, including four conference games.

Cooper Wirkala and James Phelan led Thomas with 24 and 23 points respectively.  Wirkala also pulled down seven rebounds and Phelan dished out six assists.  Parker Desjardins also reached double figures with 15 points.

Gregory Gonyea Jr. (Dolgeville, NY) paced Lyndon with 18 points.  Tavarius Vance (Barre, VT), Peyton Olsen (Middleburgh, NY), and Mondwell Bukle (Pyeongtaek, South Korea) all reached double figures with 13, 12, and 11 points respectively.  Tyrese Harris (Fort Benning, GA) grabbed 12 rebounds and handed out six assists for the Hornets.

The Hornets will play their final game before winter break next Sunday, when they travel to Clarkson University for a non-conference game.  Tip-off is set for 2:00 pm.
