Presque Isle, ME - The University of Maine at Presque Isle scored just 20 seconds into Sunday's North Atlantic Conference men's soccer game with Vermont State University Lyndon. The Owls never looked back, extending their lead to 7-0 at halftime and cruising to an 8-0 victory on Sunday afternoon. The Owls improved to 2-12-2 on the season and 2-5-1 in NAC play. Lyndon remained winless in 14 outings, including eight conference games.
Remar Shirley scored twice and Isaac Doore picked up three assists to pace UMPI. Nyden Reed had a goal and an assist, as seven different Owls scored in the game. Kobe West and Xavier McAtee each played a half in the Owl goal in combining for the shutout.
Lyndon goalkeeper Robert McDonald (Arnold, MD) made eight saves as UMPI outshot Lyndon, 20-1. Joseph Patrick Osborn (Hanover, NH) had Lyndon's only shot late in teh second half, which McAtee turned away.
The Hornets will conclude the 2023 season on Wednesday afternoon when they travel to Plymouth State University for a 3:00 pm non-conference contest.
