Farmington, ME - Again faced with a depleted roster, the Vermont State University Lyndon women's soccer team couldn't get anything going in Saturday's North Atlantic Conference contest at the University of Maine at Farmington. The host Beavers, playing with a three-player advantage throughout, cruised to an 8-0 victory to improve to 7-9-1 on the season and 4-4 in conference play. The Hornets fell to 1-12 overall and remained winless in seven NAC outings.
Audrey Fletcher scored twice and added an assist to pace the Beavers. Emily Boyle added a goal and a pair of assists as seven different UMF players scored in the game.
UMF held Lyndon without a shot in the contest while getting off 53 of their own. Lily Souza got the shutout win in goal for the Beavers without having to make a save. Meanwhile, Lyndon keeper Karly Cordwell (Milan, NH) made a career high 26 saves in net for the Hornets.
Lyndon will close out its season on Sunday afternoon when they play at the University of Maine at Presque Isle in a game that was rescheduled from September 16th. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:30 pm.
