Presque Isle, ME - The University of Maine at Presque Isle scored four times in the first half en route to a 5-0 North Atlantic Conference women's soccer victory over Vermont State University Lyndon on Sunday afternoon. It was the first win in 16 games this season for the Owls. UMPI finishes 1-8 in conference play. Lyndon, playing three players down all game, concludes its season with a 1-13 overall record and an 0-8 mark in NAC play.
Jocelyn Gagnon got UMPI on the board in the ninth minute when she scored off of an assist from Ashlyn Wing. Wing picked up assists on the next two Owl goals as well, finding Kourtney West in the 27th minute and Madison Miller in the 36th minute. Alexis Ireland picked up UMPI's last two goals, in the 44th and 58th minutes.
UMPI outshot Lyndon 26-2 for the game. Marissa Havey went the distance in goal to earn the win and the shutout. Havey stopped the only two Hornet shots on goal, from Maachah Krull (Woodsville, NH) in the 32nd minute and Hannah Badertscher (Irasburg, VT) in the 41st minute. Lyndon goalkeeper Karly Cordwell (Milan, NH) made 13 saves.
