Plymouth, NH - Playing two players down the entire match, the Vermont State University Lyndon women's soccer team was unable to stay with Plymouth State University on Wednesday. The host Panthers built a five goal lead in the first 32 minutes and cruised to a 9-0 non-conference win over the Hornets. Plymouth State improved to 4-7-3 on the season while Lyndon fell to 1-11.
Emily Wilson had two goals and an assist to lead Plymouth. Eight other Panthers scored single goals. Plymouth goalkeepers Drea Oswell and Gabby Mangini each played a half for a combined shutout. Mangini turned away Lyndon's only shot on goal, which came from Malia Wilson (East Hartford, CT) in the 64th minute.
Plymouth outshot Lyndon 28-1 in the contest. Hornet keeper Karly Cordwell (Milan, NH) made 11 saves in net.
The Hornets will wrap up the season this weekend with a pair of North Atlantic Conference games in Maine. They will play at the University of Maine at Farmington on Saturday, then travel to the University of Maine at Presque Isle on Sunday.
