Lyndonville, VT - Thomas College controlled play from the start and went on to defeat Vermont State University Lyndon, 12-0, in Saturday's North Atlantic Conference men's socc3er game on Varsity Field. Thomas improved to 5-3-5 on the season and 4-2-1 in NAC play. Lyndon remained winless in 11 outings , including six conference games.
Julen Zuidervaart had a big game to lead Thomas, recording a pair of goals and three assists. Andrew Poulin and Carter Pelletier also scored twice and six other Terriers scored single goals.
Thomas dominated play, outshooting Lyndon 65-3 and earning 20 corners to none for the Hornets. Joseph Patrick Osborn (Hanover, NH) had Lyndon's only shot on goal in the 87th minute but he was turned away by Terrier goalkeeper Keein Wright. Wright and Matthew Gosselin each played a half in the combined shutout. Lyndon keeper Robert McDonald (Arnold, MD) made a career high 21 saves in the Hornet net.
Prior to the game, Lyndon seniors Osborn and Koltin LeDuc were joined on the field by family members and friends. They were thanked for their contributions to Hornet soccer and Hornet athletics.
Lyndon will travel to Maine next weekend for their final conference games of the season. On Saturday, they will play at the University of Maine at Farmington at 3:30 pm. Then on Sunday they will venture to the University of Maine at Presque Isle for a game that was originally scheduled for September 16th.
